Building, running, maintaining and decommissioning fission plants is so unfathomably expensive on the taxpayer its not even believable. They are also super prone to war issues because they are so centralized. With a few attacks you can take out most of the energy supply of a country relying heavily on nuclear power. Good luck trying to take out all the island capable solar installations and every wind turbine.

The actual traffic data cant be open sourced either, because that would give random people access to the location of users. There is nothing preventing them from selling this data to anyone and it should be assumed that they do. They might just be using google data for this anyway tho

The downside is complexity which is always a reason to not use software that deals in cryptography stuff. Sometimes simple is best.
