Yep the most repairable devices will be ones that we have a lot of not the ones we can get replacements as a majority of the replacements come from tarrifed countries.

Fair phone, framework, and others that are repairable will actually be in a semi bad part where getting a replacement may be more expensive to procure or outright decide to stop distribution because of the logistics hell.

The only “issue” I have with libre is its essentially a full pull of Firefox nightly with some rust patches on top. Its reliant on Firefox, so its not really a “new” browser per-say.

That being said, I use it everyday :) Its an excellent project.

Yep. You can even go right into the source code and find out if it is truly decentralized. And right now, ActivityHub is and ATProto is not. Maybe at some point it will be (which I hope will happen regardless of bluesky) but at the moment, it is not.

Both have some P2P components but one of the big ones from ATProto:

I tried to get one of the ATProto relays up and running but I didnt have nearly enough hard drive space to get all the data. Whereas I host quite a few federated services that include ActivityHub on a tiny server.

ATProto isnt the same protocol as activityhub which is what we are using to post/communicate between different instances.

Its an interesting field! I think the reason we have not gone there is the LLM specific models all have very different models/languages/etc… right now. So the algorithms that create them and use them need flexibility. GPUs are very flexible with what they can do with multiprocessing.

But in 5 years (or less) time, I can see a black box kinda system that can run 1000x+ speed that will make GPU LLMs obsolete. All the new GPU farm places that are popping up will have a rude awakening lol.

Yeah best we have right now is subscribing to the lemmy/piefed communities like /c/peertube and seeing what you like. For better or for worse, there is no algorithm. Moreso in peertube than others.
