OK, so same question as before: how bad do their sales need to be for them to tank? I mean, we’re seeing over 70% drop in some countries. Could they possibly sustain that for six months? A year?
If the general public had a target, I’m sure we’d get there!
but will always be a big player in the EV market.
Not for long if their sales continue to tank, because that revenue will be going to other manufacturers, who will become bigger than tesla, eventually.
And I don’t simply want Musk out. He’d still be rich because of Tesla. I want the company to fold completely. I want his fortunes to be zero, and his influence to be less than zero.
40b doesn’t sound like a lot for such a big company, though. That money will burn through quickly, unless they start mass firing their workforce.
There must be a breaking point. No large company can just exist without sales keeping them afloat.
What numbers would cause them to go bankrupt? I can’t imagine any business surviving such significant losses for very long.
This is awesome!!
I’m in Canada, but support as many EU brands as I can. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to replace Garmin products down the road, and this website listed SIGMA as an alternative - made in Germany bike computers (and more)! I can’t wait to explore this list further!
Jesus Christ, I was reading it as “Führerwear” 🫢 But “Feuer” means “fire” in German, so it’s totally appropriate!
I’m loving the repurposing of fire hoses.
Unior is solid and european
I’m currently looking at their tools. They seem to be easily available from one place that I order stuff from.
Topeak and Birzman are from Taiwan I think. SKS from Germany but their core products are fender and pumps. Shimano PRO also has some good tools.
I read conflicting info on Topeak, but they do appear to be a Taiwanese company who manufacturers there, too. I’m fine with that if I need to go with them.
I’m very familiar with SKS, and you’re right, fenders tend to be their main product (here).
In Europe we have Decathlon with incredible value, but I don’t think they are present in Canada?
Yes, we do! My gravel bike is from Decathlon, and I agree that they offer excellent value. I didn’t consider them for tools, as most of their products are made in Asia, but I can certainly look if nothing else comes up.
For now, I think Unior is the best bet, especially if you’re looking at alternatives to Park Tool products.
Man, after decades, why does GIMP still have a marketing problem?
Just visit https://www.gimp.org/ and compare it to https://www.adobe.com/ca/products/photoshop.html
Just assume both did exactly the same thing and cost the exact same amount (free or otherwise). Which would you choose based on their website?
Why does GIMP (and pretty much all FOSS) have to be so secretive about their product? Why no screenshots? Why not showcase the software on their website?
It’s so damn frustrating that every FOSS app appears to be command line software, or assumed that the user knows everything about it already.
Devs, you might have a killer piece of software, but screenshots go a long way to help with gaining interest and adoption.
As I’ve been making an effort to replace apps with the browser version of the service. It’s so abundantly clear that companies don’t want you using their website.
Even if they don’t outright cripple functionality, they’ll hound you endlessly to install the app.
It’s infuriating to say the least.
One thing at a time 🤭
