Thanks Emporor, great shout actually as I feel reassured that I’m mostly spending in the EU by shopping own brands in Lidl.
Germany seem to have a good reputation for quality cat food albeit at quite high price. I just need to suck it up and take the hit for the cause
You’re right. Clearly RT has more direct collusion with its government, I just get uncomfortable with people holding BBC up higher than any media
I always pronounced it cock
My nemesis! I get to be John Smith on the next splinter site - deal?! :)
Fair. I’m just trying to be alert to who controls the media I consume. Too many people in the UK blindly trust BBC and then criticise Russians for listening to what their government tell them
Because it’s an EU repository. I respect them for being at least clear about it.
I found it weasely that the equivalent sub to this one on reddit was called something like “buyfromEU” and just tagged on that they meant EU as in Europe, not like the trading block synonymous with those letters lol
I’m from the UK and would agree with you. Now is not the time to be consuming content from any government media
I’m not sure, I think they were worthless (like, beyond respect from your peers which is naturally bs).
I think they also introduced awards which I know cost real money to buy but intriguingly were valueless to the receipient
While small, they also contributed to Trump’s grift which is why you’ll see alot of people suggesting alternatives for it
Edit: directed at Op, not the person I’m replying to as they’re clearly zoned in already
Going cold turkey. Bizarrely I like lemmy more as there’s less content so I don’t scroll as much.
I nuke my accounts pretty regularly for data security so didnt really have any value in my account (none of this “I had 1500 karma coins” or whatever)
Thanks. Yes, that’s the only reference I can find also
I can’t find details of what China’s existing tariffs on the US were? I’m not saying I don’t belief you, I’m interested in what they were - any chance you could link me to the details please?
I’m in the UK, my wife mocks me daily for having a desire to understand what the US now is and to act on that.
I would say not a single friend or family member that I can tell if openly talking action.
It’s so disappointing but I’ll trudge on and hope they turn on eventually
Thanks for taking the time to write this as it reflects how I feel.
I need to spend more time to transition away from companies /countries that I don’t align with
The US clarified by saying “we can’t… honest”.
The maintenance contracts and parts are all US resources that could be switched off over night relegating your aircraft to a very heavy paperweight
I’m making this work, sort of, in that I live in a one-bus-a-week village but swapped my car out 3yrs back for an electric moped.
Its so much cheaper and nice that a car isn’t lying around unused. I was ready to suck up the cost of hire cars/taxis but have maybe had 1 or 2 in that period.
Like you say, it has to work for you but I think most don’t realise how car ownership doesn’t have to be a thing
Fabulous response, I wish I could upvote you twice!
I recall those brands from a look a couple of years ago focused in food that was better for them so I’ll definitely take a look down this route.
The great thing is, my cats seem to hate food that they loved overnight so I’m not constrained by having to stick with their favorite lol
