That’s an excellent question. Pretty sure the page I copied that quote from looks a lot like the linked page. I don’t have other pages about this topic in my browsing history. Either CNCB edited the page, or my browser forgot a page.
The linked article has this:
That 39% figure claimed by the U.S. is widely disputed with the World Trade Organization saying the EU’s average tariff rate was 4.9% in 2024.

“Nevertheless, considering the actual trade in goods between the EU and U.S., in practice the average tariff rate on both sides is approximately 1%. In 2023, the U.S. collected approximately 7 billion euros [$6.35 billion] of tariffs on EU exports, and the EU collected approximately 3 billion euros on U.S. exports,” the Commission said.

The name is misleading. It’s just a one-man project to create a new Linux distro which has nothing to do with EU. Out of all the good European options, they chose to go with an American distro as their base. And to manage their project, they use an American Git provider.
The main reaction can be stopped within seconds, but the secondary reaction cannot. If the reactor isn’t sufficiently cooled by running water through it, it will meltdown due to the secondary reactions.
